In John 4 Jesus spoke of an abundant harvest. Jesus said to His disciples “…Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are while already to harvest.” Jesus knew in His day that there were people all around that would respond to the truth.
In our day and age we can be tempted to be pessimistic and doubt whether there is a harvest at all, but we must not doubt. The Lord Jesus promised that He would build His church and that the gates of hell would not prevail against it. Every Christian has the unseen power of the Holy Spirit working in our lives, along with the good news of the Gospel which is the power of God unto salvation. We must not only look at the harvest but we must go out into the abundant fields of our day to reach the lost for Christ.
